Reconnecting to Nature and the Nature of Our Body Temples

Reconnecting to Nature and the Nature of Our Body Temples

I find everyday that it becomes more fluid to feel balance in my life when I choose to take time to reconnect to the earth and my earthly body. This is what the term embodiment is all about. Learning the tools that help us to more easily ground into the present moment, bringing our energy back to us/to earth/within us and remembering our innate magical connection to all of life.

In my own personal journey, reconnecting with nature has been an organic doorway to help me to get to know my body, my mind and my soul beyond the noise of life. The more I choose connection, it helps me feel more regulated, centered, naturally in my heart flow and even ushers in a new found sense of innate abundance that has always been right there.

Cultivating a connection with the Earth Mother again is also taking a conscious effort to cultivate a healthy relationship with the Earth and re-connecting our linage back to it as well. When we see ourselves as part of the web of life, we start to honor it in a whole new way. We start to see that we really are always provided for and that the magic is indeed real.

Ways to cultivate reconnection with the Earth and our bodies:

(You can pick one or mix together of all these exercsies to create a short 10 min daily practice)

1.) Morning touch down:

Touch your bare feet to the ground to literally ground yourself to earth. If you have a back yard, take time in the morning to physically connect your feet to the soil and just be with it. If you live in an apartment, you can find a local park, water space or trail head to visit before you have to go to work or even during breaks. If morning doesn't work, you can do it anytime.

By making this your first exercise and working to make it happen atleast once a day, or throughout your week, it can be a simple and effective start to literally feeling reconnected to nature again. We are electromagnetic beings and we need to ground ourselves just like electricity needs to or we "burnout". Now more than ever people don't touch the elements directly bc of shoes, cars and so on. It seems so simple but touching our feet to the earth really can improve our overall wellbeing.

-You can take notes on how this makes you feel when you practice.

2.) My next recommendation to help us reconnect would be to work with atleast one plant on a sensory level:

You can find or buy a plant you are drawn to that you can physically touch, smell and even better, taste! If you don't have an edible plant around you atm you can start with any house plant and or find a local plant in your neighborhood/park. This exercise is more effective if you can use all your senses but you can always use your imagination ;)

Working with aromatic plants like mint, rosemary, sage, mugwort can bring a sense of vitality, joy and releif into a person's life and let me explain why. In order to first smell the plants you have to touch them to release the aromatic plant oils. Touching plants and greenery naturally helps re-ground our energy and re-connect us to the plant kingdom. Then, as the essential oils in the aromatic plants reach our nose they then begin to act on our nervous system to relax the vagus nerve, bringing us into the present moment as well as feelings of sweet aromatic upliftment, a touch of euphoria and dash of joy. To me thats magic.

For my people who are unsure about growing plants, I first encourage folks to buy one potted plant they like to use in tea or food. That can be thyme, rosemary, oregano, bazillion and any herb you have been drawn to. Its worth spending $5 on this istead of that latte I promise. Learning to work with plants is truly life changing and everyone can do it. I thought I couldn't either at one point but herbs in particular are very resilient. They want to thrive and want you to as well.

We can also find a plant in our area that we can visit. I do this as well. Go on a walk and smell the roses and flowers in the neighborhood. Make time to go on a hike/trail head to be in nature and when you do start to actually physically touch the pine trees, the pedals of the roses, smell them and the essences they carry. Let them enliven you. Get to know them on a more sensing level.

They consider practices like this resourcing. A practice that can calm overactive nervous systems and ease us into states of balance and harmony with life again. You can even return to this time you spend in nature in "resourcing  visualizations" to gelp relieve you during times of overwhelm, doubt or worry. Remember the beauty.

Even if all you have is an ivy around, you can start working with plants by connecting with them more, touch the leaves and be aware as how feel the texture of it. Is it soft or fuzzy. You can also start communicating more with plants and greet them as if they are alive and our friends, thank the plants and give them some love for the beauty they bring into our Iife.

Again journaling or noting what you experience will help to further solidify your growing connection to your bodies and with nature.

3.) Movement stretch into stillness (embodiment practices) :

I want to share at least one simple embodiment practice anyone can do anywhere. This is sorta what I do every morning and throughout my day when I need to regulate my nervous system:

-First take a moment to just be with your breathe and your body. You can hold your chest and or your tummy as you breathe. Take at least 3 easy breathes here.

-Start swaying back and forth as you begin to stretch your neck in slow circles and then side to side.

-Message your jaw and take 3 more breathes.

-Stretch your hips out. You can even do circles here. Stretching your hips out in circles and or simple bending over to touch the toes to stretch the hips out.

-Then stretch your legs and arms remaining mindful in your breathing.

-Then stretch out into your ankles and wrists, rotating them in circles, breathing.

-As you are starting to stretch your ankles out beging to really feel into your connection to the ground beneath you. Take a couple of breathes here. Theh, when you breathe out, breathe your energy into the earth below you. Feeling your energy as if its you have roots moving down into the earth. Breathing in again, breathe in the life force and then breathe out and down into the earth. Do this 3 times.

-Tune into your body now and see what else wants to be stretched and have alittle fun with it. Find joy in it and in this release.

-Next, I invite you to shake it off! Shake out your hands, your arms, head, chest, hips, legs then into your feet.

-Lastly, I highly recommend letting your energy move you into alittle 3 min dance. You can also have your favorite music playing while you do this practice. Anything that encourages your soul to move, sing and play. I usually don't start out playing music but after shaking the dust off I usually want to dance. This is an amazing way to cultivate our own feelings of innate bliss, joy and lightness in our lives.

(After this simple stretch and/or some movement fun, take time to sit in stillness with a clear mind and a now open body, blood flowing and energy empowered. In this space we have better access to our soul and our own intuitive/embodied nature. We learn to balance mind, body, soul and spirit as one. We become the Alchemy.)

You can set an intention for your day here

Pray

You can also journal what comes up for you!

As always, I recommend all of these exercises in nature or immersed in the elements but that we can also do any of these practices anywhere at anytime with the power of our will.

I feel I should also note the importance of the daily self care practices of washing our face,  drinking a glass of water, taking in a nourishing meal or tea and making gratitude before reaching for our devices and beginning our daily practices.

Sending so much love on your journey!

Peace be with the,
